Tobermory Ontario is a picturesque village located at the very tip of the Bruce Peninsula located between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. This small village features 2 world class National Parks. Fathom Five National Marine Park with many islands and world class SCUBA diving & Bruce Peninsula National Park featuring the world famous grotto, Cyprus Lake, and too many scenic lookouts to list. The downtown area on Little Tub Harbour features many restaurants, retail stores, tour companies, and the Chi-Cheemaun ferry to Manitoulin Island. Tobermory is also northern terminus of the world famous 900km+ Bruce Trail.

Little Tub Harbour

Little tub harbour is the hub of Tobermory. Restaurants/Bars, Shopping, Marina, Tour Companies, and Hotels all call the Harbour home. On top of that it is one of the most picturesque harbours in all of ontario with is quaint small town feel. You can easily pass the day away strolling around the harbour, taking a tour, or having a bite to eat while taking in the view. Stone Cove B&B is ideally located a 1.5km walk to little tub harbour. no wheels, No worry!

Parks Canada Visitor Center

The visitor centre is located off of Highway 6 just before downtown. This beautiful building has informative displays about the local wild life & plant life. There are many beautiful walking trails surrounding the centre that are easily accessed. There is also a high wooden observation tower that has views of Tobermory and the surrounding islands better than any other. (This site may have limited winter hours).

Dunks Bay

This beautiful sand beach is bordered on either side by a beautiful rocky shoreline. Easily one of the most scenic sand beaches in all of Canada this is a must see. Its easily accessed from the road off of Highway 6, heading east down dunks bay road. There is a small public beach area for suntanning, swimming, or just enjoying the view.

Singing Sands

This massive beach is the largest sand beach on the whole Bruce Peninsula. It has washroom facilities, large amounts of parking, and has shallow warm water that goes on for miles. A must see, especially if your looking for good warmer water swimming. This site has first come first served paid parking.

Bruce Peninsula National Park

This is one of 2 National Parks in the Bruce. Featuring many kilometres of hiking trails, beautiful inland lakes, and amazing scenic bluffs bordering Georgian Bay. Indian Head Cove and The Grotto are some of the most popular places to visit in the Bruce. It can get very busy during the high season, but is worth it. The trail leading to the coast is a moderate hike. However the climb down into the Grotto is difficult if you want to get right inside of this amazing natural formation. Paid parking reservations through Parks Canada are highly recommended for “The Grotto” & “Halfway Log Dump” as these site fills up regularly in the summer and on weekends.

Fathom Five National Marine Park

This is Canada’s first marine based national park. 130 square kilometres in size featuring 20 islands, 22 shipwrecks, and multiple light houses. If you are seeking world class fresh water diving then you’ve come to the right place. Multiple dive outfitters and tour companies are located on Little Tub Harbour for dive charters, training, and equipment. (Boat tour, and dive companies are closed seasonally).

Flowerpot Island

A few local tour companies offer tours daily to the beautiful Flowerpot Island. Flowerpot Island is a small island about 6.5km off the coast of Tobermory. Known for is lighthouse and natural rock formations along the coat that resemble flowerpots. Tours either go directly to and from the island, or the glass bottom boats also visit Big Tub Harbour to see the shipwreck in the harbour. Both types of tours are informative, enjoyable and lots of fun. Make sure to reserve your spot in advance as this is very busy during the summer and on weekends (Boat tours are closed seasonally, check ahead for dates).

The Bruce Trail, northern terminus

The world class Bruce Trail extends along the Niagara Escarpment from Niagara Falls extending over 900km until it’s reaches its northern terminus in Tobermory. From short day hikes, to multi-day or even multi week through hikes. You can find some of the best hiking, scenery and wildlife that Canada has to offer. This trail is accessible from many areas around the Tobermory area.

Little Cove Provincial Park

Little cove is a beautiful rocky cove that remains almost untouched. It has a rugged shoreline bordered on one side by hiking trails. A great place for hiking, nature watching and photography. The beach is very rocky so may not be the best choice for swimming. This site has first come first served paid parking (Reservations may be required in high season through the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula).

Big Tub Lighthouse

The first light in Tobermory (a lamp on a tree) was established in 1881 and was later replaced by the current lighthouse still guarding the entrance to Big Tub Harbour in 1885. The six-sided 43-foot-tall wooden lighthouse is very scenic and a great spot for photography, or relaxing while enjoying the view of the harbour. This lighthouse is easily accessible by a very short walk from the road. This site has first come first served paid parking, or is a very short walk from Stone Cove B&B.
